Understanding Why Cheap Earrings Can Turn Colors

If you’ve ever had a piece of jewelry that makes your skin greenish in color I’m sure you’ve been curious what causes it. Basically ~ your skin is reacting to the metal in the jewelry to everyone who wears cheap jewelry. Skin greening can happen to some people more quickly than others; though, because our bodies are all unique.

Even jewelry you pay more for can turn people’s skin green<, because it's not one hundred percent pure~ regardless of cost. Platinum is a safe choice as it almost never reacts with skin so not to fear if the stuff you wear is 100% platinum. To try to stop gold jewelry from reacting to your skin confirm that its authentic and not plated gold – its a cheaper metal with a thin gold layer and that coating wears off very quickly. For 100% gold jewelry thats not rinsed or plated choosing a higher karat only can help reduce the marks that are left on your skin.
Copper will also turn your skin green and its hard to stop it.

Try to avoid sweating in your jewelry because that can speed up the reaction between your skin and the metal you can also get a special coating put on – to minimize the amount of green reaction your skin has. If you do this you should be able to wear your jewelry quite often. Just remember~ the green discoloration isn’t harmful. It’s just a skin reaction and not an allergy.
Allergies will causes reddening and also will make your skin inflamed and itchy. It’s not anything like a green skin reaction. so make sure if you notice an allergy developing that you stop wearing your jewelry right away. Green skin shouldnt scare you ore keep you from wearing your favorite pieces you may just have to clean your skin more so its not ugly.

At the end of the day applying a coating is usually the best option.
