Want to Be Healthier? Plant a Garden

Once every person gets to a certain age in life they have to start thinking about their health. Doctors will tell people to exercise more at the gym, watch their calorie intake, drink plenty of water and drink alcohol in moderation but one of the things that doctors don’t commonly recommend as a solution for someone to get healthier is for them to plant a garden.

How a Garden can Help you to get Healthier

Not every person likes going to the gym and sweating it out on the treadmill or in a Zumba class with other people. With gardening any individual will get healthier thanks to the physical labor that comes from working outside.

It doesn’t matter what type of garden that someone is considering planting, working outside in a garden involves bending, reaching, stretching, squatting, lifting and physical exertion, the same forms of exercise that you can get in a gym but the big difference is that gardening is free.

Gardening Helps you Internally

Every individual who spends time outside gardening will enjoy the benefit of receiving a natural dose Vitamin D from the sun’s rays. This vitamin is essential for maintaining healthy bones and fighting off most major diseases like cancer.

Every health expert recommends applying sun screen before spending prolonged periods outside because excessive exposure to the sun over long periods of time can lead to skin cancer.
Gardening can also help an individual to cleanse and purify their body through sweating. When our bodies sweat we are cleansing our systems of toxins and free radicals that we accumulate on
a daily basis.

Planting a garden is also good for an individual’s mental health as well too because the very act of planting something, caring for it and watching grow is very fulfilling and many physiologists have said that every person needs some form of fulfillment in their daily life.

People who live in apartments always discount the fact that the can use hydroponics to grow a garden indoors.
